Are you getting ready for a new position as an Apps Developer and want to maximize your chances to land your dream job? You’re in the right place.
The Interview Loop Series for Apps Developer is designed to help you understand and prepare for each interview that might be thrown at you during the interview process.
This is a general approach to preparing for these interviews, but keep in mind that each company is unique and that their interview loop will differ. Therefore, your time will be better spent by preparing for what is relevant for a given job rather than everything in this guide.
So how to prepare? Keep reading.
1. Research the company’s interview loop
Rather than preparing for everything in this guide series, focus instead on what you can expect to be asked.
There is two primary ways to go about this.
Ask your company contact or recruiter
The simplest way is to simply ask ahead of time. Whether you’re in contact with a hiring manager, or you’re working with a recruiter, just inquire with them on what you can expect throughout the process and try to get a sense of what each interview session will be.
Most times, they will be happy to share this with you and will appreciate your inquiry into how the company works. You may have to go through an Initial Phone Screen before the later details are shared with you.
Look it up!
Did you know you can often just look up what your interview experience will be like?
There is many websites out there like Glassdoor who collect interviewee data on their interview experience and the line of questioning they can expect.
Many companies, such as Uber, even tell you everything you should expect during their engineering interviews.
So always do your homework so you know what to expect
2. Preparation is King
Did you know that Apps Developers interviews are often deeply flawed and often aren’t actually designed around finding the best candidate?
Most companies don’t actually know how to hire and follow common industry practices when interviewing, but really find out how someone is going to perform once they’re on the job.
The reason for this is that most companies interview the same way, and it rewards those who are best at interviewing over those who will best perform on the job.
This means the best thing you can do is be as prepared as you can.
Once you identified what your interview loop will look like, go through every relevant section of this guide and do your homework. Do some mock interviews, brush up your code samples and do some online coding exercises if needed.
